There are visible and olfactory symptoms with some infections, but even those can be early in the process, or not present with typical symptoms, and that includes both of the ones specified here.

So, while it is true that if the pussy or dick is visibly dirty, or stank, avoid it. But pussy can look perfect and smell incredible and still have an infection, and dicks are kinda known for having way less easy to detect symptoms
