epic games store, ubisoft connect, and also whatever used to be origin, all these launchers were HEAVILY marketed and users were shoehorned into them as a mandatory condition of playing a game, and they are all floundering.

GOG, though? No marketing. No coercion. Mostly it’s word of mouth and good will. And they are doing pretty alright. They were also NOT being first to market. They furthermore did NOT waste loads and loads of cash trying to push themselves onto people. Furthermore, you buy a game from GOG and you don’t even NEED to install their launcher! All their game installers function perfectly STAND-ALONE!

I’d say, with all that in mind, GOG is literally doing better than anyone that isn’t Steam.

And in my view, they are ever improving, even now.

I don’t think I have actually ever seen any actual indigenous individual of a culture get mad at someone for cooking food from their own culture.

But I don’t know if that’s because the people who would’ve been mad about it got genocided and no longer exist, or if it’s because people actually just don’t care.

The people I HAVE witnessed getting angry about that sort of thing … were white. I suppose they’re trying to be ‘culturally sensitive’ but isn’t that just kinda … patronizing and infantilizing? low-key “talking over” them? From a blend of hallucinating the content of another metaphor (the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence), for a little while there I actually did wonder if the dry flames would’ve been less agonizing than being entirely submerged in this boiling oil. But it’s not better. Plainly.

Furthermore I don’t need to believe US propaganda in order to be cognizant of China’s administrative and governmental shortfalls. Even if I didn’t have any information telling me how “bad” China is, why would I trust any of the propaganda about how “good” it is? I don’t have reliable information to build a conclusion upon either way.

But at this stage I’m no longer reflexively and mindlessly defaulting to “CHINA BAD”.

I would’ve been sarcastic about that in the past but now I am honestly and truthfully of an open mind here for possibly the first time in my life. I had believed my mind was open in the past but there are some presuppositions that have just … suddenly stopped holding water.

Damn. I remember a time when I actually believed that ‘social credit system’ horseshit. An old dog like me struggles to learn new tricks, but I gotta tell you… Getting a set of 7 day pill organizers (the package contained 3 containers with 7 compartments in each) has worked nicely. There’s a white one, a pink one, and a purple one. I put my morning pills in the pink one, my afternoon pills in the white one, and my night pills in the purple one. It’s easy to tell at a glance as to whether or not i need to take these or if I’ve already taken them.

It’s nice having daily supplies metered out in whatever too because it means not having to risk bringing the main bottles containing my entire long term supply everywhere. This way if i lose any its only one weeks worth and not the bulk source
