I will echo in the other comments ITT. Yes, sure, it doesn’t always REQUIRE turn based game play, but Yagi-san’s company, and the DQ history has set the EXPECTATION that it will be. If you change that I will not buy it. Just like if GTA VI is turned based fans would rage as it doesn’t fit the expectation set. (Personally I would probably play at turn-based GTA).

Was this game any good? Ghost of Tsushima seemed to remain in the zeitgeist for a year or so after release (my impression anyway). I can’t remember anything about this game after it came out.

I really wish I had your ambition for accepting what Square Enix decided to do with the game. I think the difference is these games are ruining things for me. And with Square Enix saying “this is how FF7 was meant to be” it worries me that this will be the FF7 we know going forward. The original reduced to as asterisk.

I grew up on FF. This “remake” has not impressed me. I wanted to like it but every possible story beat is done worse than the original. I feel FF16 felt like doing homework.

Capcom is showing every studio how actual remakes should be done. They don’t spend 7 years and over 100 million USD to do it. They all sell block buster numbers and is exactly what the old fans want with the upgrades and quality of life changes the new fans want.

The only way to convey to the decision makers at Square Enix I do not like their game is with my wallet. If you feel the same way I recommend doing the same. Do not pre-order, do not buy.

For sure. Society has moved beyond a few breaking points. I still think something what you described in your reply would help ease some of the growing wealth gap even if implemented today, but I know actually realizing such a program is a fantasy.

I followed an index fund investing method and am now removed from many pain points of capitalism. I try to share this anybody who bring up “I am worried about my future as I have no plans.” Many enjoy the conversation, but if even one in a hundred actually makes efforts to follow it means at least they will benefit.

I think this map is a little dishonest and should be titled “What Offers Citzenship From Birth - Land or Blood?” I live in a country where I can absolutely naturalize after 5 years. I was not born here and my parents are not from here. This is true of many countries if you make the effort to get a work visa and show you want to be part of their society/culture.

I really agree with your comment. It is a relationship and that relationship has been tipped in favor of one side that has taken things to extreme and fails society.

You mention making the doers part-owners. I’ve always found buying broad based index funds that buy the entire stock market the easiest way to do that.

I wish we required (yes I know how people feel about that word) everybody to invest 10% of their paycheck into something like that. If we had started this 40 years ago the workers would all be owners and benefit from the raising stock market.

You’d also have to teach people to buy and hold for their career (the long-term) but some would still sell for dumb reasons like a new iPhone or PS5.

I 100% agree with you and I cancelled back in January. For all of the grumbling and complaining that goes on the one message that never gets conveyed is “don’t buy.” It is the only language the execs and shareholders speak and the only message they understand.

I think in the end it was after you buy a game you must check in within 30 days of purchase. After that check in there is nothing additional. I think anyway…

I love that I finally made the move from Xbox to PS just for Sony to become Microsoft.

That is cool, and seems like the future. Everything is in the cloud and you just need the input device.

I want there to be a strong competitor in the console market to Sony and Nintendo, I just don’t think it is Microsoft. I’d love to be wrong…
