That’s by design. The Democrats are paid to stall progress, until a Republican can be installed to reverse it. The two party system works as designed.

Yes. If there’s ever a truly epic Mac zero day, I have faith that whoever finds it will use it to add .DS_Store to every Mac’s global .gitignore.

Your logic is sound.
The motive and skillet are certainly there.
But there sure are many eyes on RedHat’s source code, and IBM has a lot to lose if they got caught putting in a back door.
Plus, the US government uses it for their own sensitive stuff, so one would hope they have the wisdom not to shit where they eat, installing a back door that 100% would get used against them.
None of my arguments really outweigh yours, if I’m honest.
But I also don’t blame anyone who trusts RedHat Linux, today.
Yes! I’m joining “the young people”!
What do we do nowadays? Are we still tubular?
I think it’ll be neato.

One can get paid and advance through a career producing slop.
And thank goodness for that! LoL.

No one is out there doping their own silicon and writing JS apps to run on it.
Ahem. Right. That would be silly. No one would do that.
(Quick, I’ll change the subject!)
I’ll…uh… So Rust sure looks nice. Nothing silly going on there.
(Joking aside, I’ve really never done that. I can’t claim I’ve never done anything similarly silly and wasteful. But I haven’t done that, anyway.)
(Edit: yet.)

I figure in one year they’ll start to insert ads into the answer proper with a disclaimer, and then next fully integrate it.
I see you’ve played knifey/spoony/enshitify, before!
I haven’t looked into their security, sorry. I have only moved public repos, so far.
I hope to try running my own forego soonish. I’ll try to remember to report back.
Here’s how I handled my migration to CodeBerg:
It is possible to migrate source code (including history) from GithHub to CodeBerg in just a few commands, and it is free for public repositories.
So I started there.
Since I like it, I’m looking into self-hosting my own Forgejo server. I expect that to be a smooth transition, since CodeBerg runs Forgejo under the hood.
Edit:
Tip: If it is public, update the GitHub project README with a link to the new location at CodeBerg.

We had the ability to quickly write awful code beforehand, too, and learned over a long time that it’s not worth it.
Well said. This whole hype cycle has been weird.

I’m out of the loop, I haven’t bought an EA game in a decade (or two). Did they already go full platform exclusive or something?
Why do people upvote this homophobic shit?
I took it as a celebration of his life, with a dash of “Hey, as a gay man, life is way better, today.”
I’m not sure “reduces him (Alan Turing) from a brilliant scientist” is possible, on Lemmy.
We don’t have saints here, but if that ever changes, Alan Turing and Ada Lovelace will probably be our first and second second and third saints (edit: apologies to Fred Rogers. I feel silly.).
Edit: Heck, this is fun. Here’s a proposal for our first round inductee Saints of Lemmy candidates:
Then for consideration to complete our first induction year:
And if living people can be inducted:
I might keep returning to this list. Lots of folks deserve credit here.

Haha. Hmmm… Will they turn the handle on the massive money printer (James Cameron’s career) in spite of said handle turning costing some amount of up-front money?
I like this meme format. I need more stupid Venom knowledge drops in my life.

Also, if the Federation acknowledged sentience in the AIs that Barclay created, oh boy. Straight to jail for Barclay, I bet.

I feel like the guy on the right while everyone around me vibe codes things.
It doesn’t pay (literally) to be too anti-AI, today.
I’ll accept my trophy and bonus later, but I will feel slightly bad about it.
Also a slaver and child abductor.
