They sell some off brand Viagra basically that helps your blood vessels take up oxygen. I found that more helpful than the yucky coca tea, but YMMV.
So far zero problems.
I was at 5600 feet jogging every day in Medellin, with double that elevation in mind, especially with the constant warnings on Airbnb and travel articles, but when I landed here I walked around for a couple hours paying attention to how I felt and being careful, but I felt completely normal after that trial hike so I got a few beers, snacks and walked another few hours with my rucksack on feeling fine.
Nice, lucky you! You must have better lungs than most.
I’m guessing the midpoint acclimation and running helped a lot; I’m going to see if these mountain trails around me loosen up some headaches.
