If only there was some other way for people to get around the city that had much lower risk of accidents that the government could invest in instead of roads…

But there’s a problem with this logic. It counts time saved from higher speeds as pure economic gain, while ignoring the time lost when those higher speeds increase crash frequency and severity.
Do they though? Some of the safest roads in the country are our motorways and expressways, which are also the fastest.
