So suspect doesn’t answer an attempt at serving a warrant, and after their entire floor gets evacuated and gassed they get shot to death after obeying orders to come out of hiding.
Guess no questions need to be asked when you shoot first. Due process is an illusion.
using due process in a case with an actual judicial warrant minimizes the activity that is being done with no warrant. If they knocked loudly and loudly announced they have a warrant for his arrest thats following the process. Now its unclear to me why they gassed. I mean evacuating the floor makes sense given the altercation that lead to this and the armed nature of the suspect. I wish it explained more what they did. At a guess they kicked in the door and threw in the gas.
there was a need to deploy gas into the apartment in order to prompt him to come out
deployed tear gas and pepper spray.
As the man exited the apartment, two officers fired at him and he was killed.
officers found a handgun at the scene
Absolutely insane sequence of events. So they forced a man out of his apartment and then killed him as soon as he left, which was what they intended to happen as part of their plan. The handgun was “at the scene” which makes it sound like he wasn’t even holding it.
The article does currently say that he was aiming the gun at an officer when they killed him.
The article seems to have been updated a few hours ago, because I copied and pasted that exact paragraph into my comment after reading the whole article for details on why they might have shot him at his apartment
Yeah, I figured that was the case. I also wouldn’t put it past them to have lied where the gun was after the fact. ACAB regardless.
The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office is investigating. Allen said the officer’s body camera footage will be reviewed.
Nothing will come of it. Failure to answer your door is an automatic death sentence it seems.
