    I always take these reports with a grain of salt as I know how INCREDIBLY racist the Japanese can be, and how prone they are to blame foreigners for every problem in their society.

      Also the media landscape in Japan has become kind of a joke in recent years. Racism has definitely had an uptick since the pandemic like it had in many places.
