I’ll never forget my journey with Slick. He was so poor when he arrived he couldn’t hold his own head up, and was even too delicate to bathe. I had to get him stable first. We wiped him down as best we could and I tucked him in that first night with a bolster (neck pillow to lift his head) expecting the worst. The next morning, as shown in the second photo, he had spent part of the night fighting with his bolster and winning, but the little foam balls had stuck to him everywhere, and he looked so annoyed I had to laugh at him. I still smile at that photo.

Slick was a lot of work and his strength and stamina recovered long before he was through with his mayo/dawn baths. He was quite the handful. To watch him fly away was a miracle.

Slick went from “you and the horse you road in on” to “has seen some *ish” in the span of these photos.

I’m glad Slick is doing okay now.
