For those fleeing from systemd after they added age verification.
Narrator: systemd did not, in fact, add age verification. They added a way to store an age value, that’s pretty much it in my understanding. You can set this value to whatever you want.
Not sure what exactly you are upset about? Do you mind elaborating a bit?
People are unnecessarily freaking out about that minor addition. It’s pretty cringe. Systemd has no way to enforce age verification by itself, that’ll be the OS job - as long as that doesn’t happen, there is no age verification.
Systemd haters are really making it much bigger than it is. Here’s the creator response from this article
An optional field in the userdb JSON object. It’s not a policy engine, not an API for apps. We just define the field, so that it’s standardized iff people want to store the date there, but it’s entirely optional.
At least it followers ISO 8601.
ISO 8601 Gang Rise Up 🤟🤟🤟
Also funny that title says Czech Republic but screenshot says Poland.
It’s funny distrowatch lists its origin as Spain 🇪🇸
https://distrowatch.com/table-mobile.php?distribution=chimera
Chimera uses udev and elogind, almost unavoidable on desktops. One is a major part of systemd, the other is a fork of another major part of systemd backporting updates from systemd upstream. Trying new distros is good, just let’s not mislead ourselves, apart from switching to the BSDs altogether, boycotting systemd is only possible at the moment when building an embedded system or a server.
Well, there goes my weekend.

I’m on Gentoo with OpenRC.
Nice try.
Systemd also locked and censored dissent from their questionable decision. Time to switch!
