Lactase persistence is an outlier, not the norm, so basically just never give an adult animal milk or dairy products containing lactose.
I’ve had electric floor heating in the bathroom in our previous house, the running costs of heating the entire house with such a system would have been astronomical with the electricity prices here. Water-based is the standard here in the Netherlands as well.

If only… I considered the Fairphone 6, but the missing jack port was a deal-breaker for me. Went with a midrange Motorola instead.

I paid for a ticket to the Windows 7 launch event back in the days. Cost a few euros, in return I got a day of talks, networking, a laptop bag full of sweets and a retail copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. The serial also worked for Windows 10 and 11, so I’d say that was a pretty sweet deal. I honestly cannot say if that technically counts as having paid for Windows though.

The only thing Bazzite smashes is the ability to boot my laptop, which was the be expected as Fedora also consistently had major issues on it in the past. I’ll stick to Mint, works well enough for gaming now that I’ve whipped it into shape.

Well, it did help that they used a simple serial connection back then and didn’t require any advanced electronics. Just a bunch of resistors and basic stuff like that, all relatively large components that are easy to solder with what I had back then. I’m not sure how easy it would be these days with USB.
Reminds me of highschool math. At some point you needed a graphical calculator, you could upload programs onto them but that required hooking them up to a computer with a crazy expensive data cable. So I found a schematic, ordered the components for a fraction of that price and learned to solder. It looked ugly AF, but it worked. Next step I wrote a program containing the formula’s I needed, uploaded it and installed a program which hid your program menu until you pressed a certain key combination. It could even simulate a hard reset, as you could get spot-checked and asked to do just that.
I could also have just memorised the formula’s, but that wouldn’t have been fun. And unlike all those formula’s I still use my soldering and programming skills. 😋
