Like if your vegan anarchist grandma and vegan anarchist dad were the same person.

I am an engineer (closer to toot toot then clicky clacky) cosplaying as a farmer in unceded aninstanabe territory in eastern ontario.

Pronouns: she/they

Maybe the real vegan theory club were the friends we made along the way ✨

  • For what it’s worth when I clap back at the “ADHD is a you problem” I’m not saying the meds don’t help. You can pry these drugs from my cold dead hands!

If life was more accommodating maybe I could use them to be the person I want to be and not to enable me to suppress burnout symptoms so that I can participate in capitalism.

  • Apart from moral and legal responsibilities to accommodate folks I’ve heard it phrased as “Many people will experience disability in their lifetime, especially as they age.” as a way for people who do not currently experience disability to understand it in the context of their own lives and experiences.

I hate to admit but disability was always abstract to me until I experienced it, but that’s why it’s important to listen to lived experience and seek better for people in general not just ourselves.

The meds are required to function in a society that only makes room for a narrow band of people and behavior. We could improve society somewhat and our brains might not be such a barrier to having our needs met.

Two examples: My home is very ADHD friendly. We do chores at weird times, don’t panic if we stop in the middle of something, get things done in burst when we need to, give each other space when we are having deregulation issues and know that we have each others back. My workplace is also pretty neurodivergent friendly. We get up and walk around in meetings, I keep snacks and toys around for people who need a little boost or just a little something different to do for a few mins, we have layers of safety and redundancy so there is no single point of failure, human or otherwise. And we’re engineers who operate major utility infrastructure.

We can do better, or we can decide we love the taste or boot so much we just bend ourselves into something we’re not.

  • I’m so bad at abstract math but the moment I got to use math to describe physical things I got really good at it? I tell people I’m great at math, unless it has numbers 😅

It’s all about the shapes and vibes lol. First year engineering math was horrible, statistics made me cry a lot but differential equations and things like transport phenomena which use differential equations to describe movement in space is so fun.

I use math now to look for patterns in process data and it’s actually a problem because I get so into it and can’t tear myself away.

  • Yes, you can be “subthreshold” but you could also be unconsciously masking.

When I was wondering about myself and thinking about seeking a diagnosis I thought about what I wanted out of it. It made sense for me to pursue one. Turns out I’m way more autistic than I thought lol

Self diagnosis is valid as fuck, and so is just recognizing traits that cause friction in your life and addressing how to exist with those traits in this hellscape. You don’t need a diagnosis self or not to do that.
