Random question, I see in headlines a lot more recently that a comma is being used in place of “and”, why? Why not use an ampersand (&) if space is an issue?

I thought nothing was going to be the OG oneplus, bringing flagship killers at decent prices. Not the case, I got the first ear ones, had heaps of issues, no help from support and they stopped updating them.
