Good News! Hot showers weren’t common place with non royalty for another 50 years. Likely his only choice of shower was a cold shower.

6·7 days agoThat is a ridiculous explanation from The Times. The NoTAMS went out at the last minute. People were stranded from connecting flights, hundreds of passengers showed up to a closed airport in the morning. American Airlines had to be informed by passengers who got cancelled trying to board flights. Any sort of test would require advance coordination and re routing of passengers. In addition, a 10 day closure? That seems unlikely for a test over civilian airspace.

Ya, unbelievable, isn’t it? DeWalt bits are soft and wear out/strip way too fast. DeWalt is in the same group as Black and Decker and I think that division makes the bits and just slaps the DeWalt name on them. Milwaukee and Makita bits last far longer and usually have better features. I recently got a pack of Diablo bits to try out, their blades and concrete drill bits are top notch, and so far the bits seem to be also.

I agree, I also use Milwaukee bits, but got a new pack of Diablo one a few months back. They seem to have the hardness of the Milwaukee bits, but don’t get stuck as much in the mag bit holders when pounded in with a DeWalt Atomic impact.
Any socket left by a DeWalt-bit-using contractor, would likely be Pittsburgh branded, and best left to go back to the dust from whence it came.
She should be terrified! That is a DeWalt #2 Phillips bit. All contractors know that DeWalt bits are terrible. The tools are great, but this means that her daycares contractor is incompetent for not using superior Diablo bits.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL that a child born out of wedlock to an American father might not get birthright citizenship, but a child born out of wedlock to an American *mother* automatically gets birthright citizenship.English
1·15 days agoI believe you are confusing laws with Constitutional rights, the US system is kind of confusing. The US Constitution sets up a framework of government and defines certain rights, further laws are made by Congress. The first part of the 14th amendment defines birthright citizenship as all persons born in the US, subject to it’s jurisdiction, as citizens. It makes no claim to a child born to citizens elsewhere. The Supreme Court has further defined that children born overseas in areas under the sovereign control of the US are also citizens. Congress has established a law that children who are born abroad to US citizens are also granted birthright citizenship. This does not interfere with the provision in the 14th, just extends it to a different situation. The case you quoted from, and in the article, is not arguing the part of the amendment about citizenship, but a different part of the same amendment known as Equal protection. The argument is that the law itself is unjust, as it does not provide the same rights to each parent. The court is giving a reason why this law does not violate equal protection.
