@6nk06 Far from it, but I don’t think you can really deny that “clanker” is intentionally being used as a slur
Assume all toots about
*The Seahawks
*Alter Bridge
*Gojira or
*Ice cream
are factual and all other toots are nonsense

#AskMastodon
My concerns behind the question have nothing to do with worrying about being demeaning to AI or robots, but my thought is that the association between “clanker” and the n-word, and the common use of “clanker” in a lighthearted manner could imply (and possibly unintentionally support) blasé attitudes towards extremely harsh slurs in general

@Fubarberry Man oh man do you fucking love to see #Linux finally getting official recognition from large companies. Thank the fuck outta you, #Valve and the #SteamDeck
@JustJack23 It’s remarkably better now. I had FPS drops into the 15-30 range on Oshaune along with audio cutting in and out at times at the beginning of the Into the Unjust update. Now everything runs so much smoother, without those massive drops and no more audio issues.
@ComicalMayhem I think that was the whole point. Oshaune wasn’t supposed to be fair. That’s what makes that planet so memorable and the victory so much more valuable
@Sonotsugipaa Oh I didn’t mean to imply “just git gud.” I mostly meant to say that I’m surprised there are a notable number of fans of this game upset by the difficulty. From my perspective one of the biggest draws of the game is the chaos and how there’s a very real chance of loss no matter your best efforts.
I don’t think fans frustrated with the difficulty are wrong by any means, I’m just personally surprised by it. It makes specific planets and major orders so much more memorable to me
@ComicalMayhem This thread is fascinating to me. The exact reason I love this game is the utter chaos and desperation I feel in literally every mission. I was hesitant to move up from extreme to impossible, but eventually I just made the jump up to Helldive (then Super Helldive when they added it) and I haven’t looked back.
I love being unsure of victory. No other PvE game feels like #Helldivers2 because of how fantastic losing feels.
WE WILL #LIBERATEOSHAUNE

@warmaster That’s dope! I had no idea
@Phineaz I’m pretty sure we’re witnessing aggressive retaliation from the bots and squids. In HD1 Super Earth committed genocide trying to exterminate the squids and bots because the squids were an advanced PEACEFUL alien race that SE didn’t have total control over, and the bots (then cyborgs) were a SE experiment that lead to an egalitarian communist society. The bots and squids are fighting back ferociously because what the fuck else do you do when faced with genocide
