Slice of Life Anime@lemmy.world•Yuru Camp Season 4 Teaser VisualEnglish
1·11 days agoI know it’s right in line with the things I watch but so are many others. I’ll try to get around to it for real this time.
When season 3 was going I thought man I still have to start this series, and now season four is announced already. There is just so much to watch and I’m a slow guy…

ARIA@ani.social•Duolingo sentence: "fushigina deai datta". I feel like Akari has said this at least once.
2·12 days agoShe also really likes the word “deai”, and talks many times about loving to meet people if I can remember that correctly. Recently I re-watched episode 10 of The Natural where Aika and Alice follow Akari who meets the puppet master. Akari describes it as an “sutekina deai”. Aika calls Akari “makka fushigina yatsu” which I thought was funny. It’s one of my favorite episodes.

3·12 days agoI understand the sentiment. Personally I’m not really waiting for it and it will come when it comes. I like that they delay it instead of rush it.

2·17 days agoI finished Tamayura Hitotose. It’s a very nice iyashikei mainly about photography and loss. The pace is slow and the atmosphere is gentle. It has many elements that remind me of ARIA (same director). I like the setting: Japanese villages with lots of traditional architecture. My favorite episode was Maon’s flashback episode. It might be worth noting that it is one of those anime where the characters have realistic hair colours like K-ON!, giving it that extra down to earth vibe.
Sometimes I see things like this and think “oh yea I used to watch Hololive I know the girls” and then I see like a million girls that I don’t know and it makes me feel l I can rike a boomer lol. Newest gen I remember was the one with the rat and owl(?) and antler girl.

3·1 month agoI watched Tamayura and started Tamayura Hitotose. It’s an iyashikei by the same director as ARIA, Satou Junichi. Also shares some seiyuu with ARIA. It’s very gentle… And has that same sense of wonder to it. Fushigi… (he seems to like that word both in ARIA and Tamayura)
I have no clue but I do have a question. If you want to mess about with window managers and ricing them (I like that as well), wouldn’t a non immutable distro be easier? It is “immutable” but it seems you want to mutate all kinds of stuff.
I think that’s because the user can still fuck up their system by doing some stuff to those user files, like not managing their packages correctly. Note that for normal users anything that messes up their user experience equates to messing up “the system”. But I don’t really know, it’s just a guess. I just run a normal distro where you can mess with everything (like god intended lol).
I think Ichigo Mashimaro is quite iyashikei because of things like pacing, music, ambient sounds, wholesome moments, those little vignittes between scenes. It just kinda breathes nicely, there is space between jokes and lines. Soft music, kind moments. The environment feels real and “encompassing” (a bit like in non non biyori). For me CGDCT is kinda iyashikei in general but Ichigo Mashimaro is definitely significantly more iyashikei than average to me. A SOL CGDCT that is less iyashikei and more comedy to me is something like Ika Musume. Peak iyashikei to me is ARIA, highly recommended for pure brainmelting wholesomeness and healing of the soul.
Wow a fricking Ichigo Mashimaro recommendation in the wild. Shows can be both CGDCT and Iyashikei, and they often are. Non Non Biyori is definitely also a CGDCT and Ichigo Mashimaro is quite iyashikei depending on how you receive it. But good picks for sure.

4·1 month agoI finished Violet Evergarden and the OVA episode and I’m 2/3 through the first film. It looks stunning and it’s an emotional show. In the end there is some action to resolve the story which is ok but I thought that was the weakest part. My favorite episode was number 10 with the girl Ann. Usually I was a bit wet behind the eyes but with this one the tears just streamed down my face lol.
The OVA was just a good episode. It has some singing parts which I enjoyed. For reasons I am 2/3s through the first film. It kind of is a three act film roughly each act 30 minutes. The first act was wonderful and very tender. It has certain element to it that I am used to from other anime but didn’t expect in Violet Evergarden. I won’t say what it is to not spoil anything. But it was well done. In the second act the story gets going. Still very good and enjoyable, but the first act has a certain vibe that I really like.
Other than that I finished Ika Musume by finishing the 3 episode OVA. It’s consistent as always. OP -> 3 stories -> ED. I’m not watching anything from the season. I was expecting the Madoka film but that one has been delayed yet again. I rather have it delayed than rushed so I’m fine with it.
I use Artix btw. Pretty stable, I guess I have to fix something a few times a year.
I have been using Dash for years now as bin/sh. I couldn’t manage to get rid of Bash so it’s still installed (distro is Artix). As an interactive shell I run Fish. Dash is indeed rather terrible as an interactive shell as others have said.

Anime@ani.social•Amazon Doubles Down on AI Dubs for Anime Despite Backlash: Creative Director WantedEnglish
1·1 month agoOf course. There are many human made subs that suck too. For example when Shikanoko came out the subs were quite bad but clearly human made. But the positive about subs is that you can still hear the original Japanese so you never have to trust or rely on them completely. I always take things from listening that are not in the sub. If I were just to read the sub I would miss many things. With dubs you don’t have a choice, you just have to trust them. AI dubs would be even worse.

Anime@ani.social•Amazon Doubles Down on AI Dubs for Anime Despite Backlash: Creative Director WantedEnglish
2·2 months agoI see, I hope they have enough of a celebrity status among dub watchers then. I think that is really the thing that will shield them from being replaced by AI in the future.
