Is that an OCaml reference/joke?

I’m reading “So You Want to Be a Game Master” by Justin Alexander and “The Way of Kings” by Brandon Sanderson.
I also have “Needful Things” by Stephen King and “The Great Hunt” (The Wheel of Time book 2) by Robert Jordan sitting at roughly 50%, but they currently are in pause; unfortunately reading more than 2 books simultaneously is difficult if you also have to work.
They revoked the “English only” rule in August. Source.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's a quote that has stuck with you for your whole life?
1·3 years ago“Why not? You and I are eccentrics. We’re certainly not typical of the people living on Terminus. As for criminals, that’s a matter of definition. And if criminals are the price we must pay for rebels, heretics, and geniuses, I’m willing to pay it. I demand the price be paid. […] You can’t have geniuses and saints without having people far outside the norm, and I don’t see how you can have on only one side of the norm. There is bound to be a certain symmetry.” - Foundation and Earth by Isaac Asimov
I agree, I’ve always used
sudo apt update, sudo apt upgradeandflatpak updateon Pop OS and never used the pop shop.
Me too, if I subscribe to communities in other instances, most of the time I see a different number of comments and posts here on lemmy.ml.
There are a ton of good content creators I follow, mostly in the edutainment field; I’ll post three of them (the first three that came up in my mind) for the YouTube and Podcast category

Technology@beehaw.org•I need Podcast app recommendations for Android/PCEnglish
11·3 years agoI’m using PocketCasts and I paid a one-time fee before it became subscription based (but there’s still a free tier), in order to be able to listen to podcast using the web app on PC. Thus I now have lifetime premium access.
I’m very satisfied with their service, I did not find any problems with both the Android app and the web app, moreover it has almost every feature I need, except voice to text conversion in order to be able to share slices of audio in text format (but there are dedicated apps for that).

Science Fiction@lemmy.world•What books are you reading at the moment?English
1·3 years agoI’m currently reading Leviathan Wakes by James S. A. Corey, which is the first book of the Expanse series. I haven’t watched the TV series, since I wanted to dive into the books without previous knowledge.
Aren’t voice and video calls (basically VoIP) what Turn (coturn) is supposed to support?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's your favorite memory from the early internet?English
4·3 years agoMy first Internet connection was based on GPRS and I remember images taking ages to load and loading in chunks. Moreover the connection kept interfering with the surround audio system and sometimes I would hear noises similar to the dial up modems.
I also remember the first times I tried using eMule (is it still up and running?): I was searching for the video song “Elevation” by U2 but I was unaware of rule 34; you can imagine what I actually downloaded.
Yup, I think you can do that on Tusky by clicking on the human avatar with the plus icon on the right corner of this picture (you can also silence topics with other buttons)

I’m using Tusky, I switched to it some months ago from the official Mastodon app; but I don’t remember exactly the missing feature that forced me to switch ahahah
Anyway I am really liking Tusky, it looks modern, clean, fast and personally I did not find any relevant bugs in it.
I just started this series this year by picking up Going Postal, which I finished something like a month ago. I liked it a lot and as my “gateway drug” into the Discworld, I think I will always have good memories of it.
Pop_OS on both laptop and desktop, since it has integrated nvidia graphic drivers and handles them without too much hassle. Before switching to Pop_OS I used to use Fedora for many years.

Yes, we do.
“Il/lo/la/i/gli/le” instead of “the”, the precise article is chosen taking in consideration gender and plurality. We even have elliptic forms with " l’ ," for words starting with a vowel.
Then we have “un/uno/una” instead of “a”. Again elliptic form "un’ " for feminine words starting with a vowel.
Italian here 🤌
