People who like porn and kink are full people with varied interests, including interests outside of porn!
It almost sounds stupid to have to say it out loud, but I find that I have to. A LOT.
All over social media, I will have random interactions with people: complimenting their dog pictures or arguing about politics or passing out resources for homeless people in my country (since that’s what I used to do for a living, I know more than most!)
And then sometimes they find out I’m also a hentai artist, which is fine.** I’m not trying to hide it or anything because I don’t think my art is anything to be ashamed of**. But, suddenly, they’re shocked. They can’t believe they got “wholesome” advice from a hentai artist, or that a sex worker would have an opinion on the Palestinian genocide.
It’s like they never really sat down and thought about it; that everyone has to go to the grocery store, that everyone has hobbies, and most people have good hearts–even if they have a CNC kink, because kink is just that, and doesn’t have too much to do with the rest of your life!
I see this reflected in the way people talk about sex and porn a lot online. There’s many disparaging comments about “porn rotted gooners” and I see a lot of people assuming that liking porn “too much” will automatically turn you into a misogynist.
I do kind of see where they’re coming from sometimes, but unfortunately, misogyny is everywhere, and porn often doesn’t have much to do with it. In fact, in my experience, the anti-porn crusaders have been worse!
I feel like this is more important to say now than ever due to legislative encroachments on freedom of expression under the guise of “protect the children!”
Obviously, porn should be kept away from kids as much as possible because they’re not yet able to separate fantasy from reality, but sex is a fine, healthy part of being a human, and porn is just an extension of that. This whole save the children nonsense is clearly just that: nonsense, a thin excuse to suppress the rights of ADULTS.
We CANNOT limit the kind of art work we’re allowed to create when it comes to one of the most important human experiences, and I think that one important political tool we have is showing how normal and mundane sex and kink and sexual experiences are… AND the fact that these experiences belong to real, full people with other hobbies and interests.
Because liking sex (and therefore porn!) IS TOTALLY NORMAL!
I think that my fundraiser’s success so far ($601/$1000 goal!) is really great evidence of that. So far, I’ve gotten 18 different people, total strangers, to donate whatever they can spare (donations range from $5 to $200).
That might seem REALLY SMALL to you, but trust me that’s actually HUGE given that 1. I’m a really tiny artist with like no following and 2. times are REALLY TOUGH right now for EVERYONE!
And there’s still 3 days left! I believe I’ll still get many more donations and maybe even hit my goal by the deadline, Dec 31st. All these people just happen to like both porn and helping the poor. These qualities can, and often DO, exist in the same people! ❤️
Because we are full people with varied interests who care! And we are GOOD people, as much as anyone else, because liking sex and porn and being horny is. just. normal!
And I am SO GRATEFUL for the opportunity to help prove that through this fundraiser! And I hope every single person who participated by donating, liking, sharing, commenting, encouraging, etc, feels the same way!

i met him at work! I don’t know how long it took. I wasn’t really looking.
I think most people don’t find others just on the street or at a grocery store. I mean some people do, but it’s pretty rare. usually at jobs and through friends. volunteering is a really good way too.
