Fork found in kitchen.
To let the world be.

Fork found in kitchen.

This makes me want to cry.
I try to be stoic and harden my heart to defend it from the horrors of the world and current events, but this is just so beautiful and amazing and all I ever wanted since I was a kid.
I don’t know how people can look at this and be unable to pause and just want peace. We are so small and fragile.
We as a species should be working together, not trying to kill each other at every possible moment.
It’s all I’ve ever wanted, and as I’ve aged I’ve become jaded and felt it’s just been a stupid dream. But seeing this picture reminds me of that feeling, a world without borders.
Thank you NASA.
That’s awesome!! I’m proud and happy for you!
Here’s the context for OP’s inspiration.
I appreciate this post!
I’ve never been to a meeting, but I’ve always heard the only way through AA is with God. And as a lifelong atheist, I don’t think that would work for me. I’d just be lying to get them to shut up lol (which would not be doing myself the real service I would need at that point).
I’m surprised there isn’t a more secular AA program. I can see the appeal of AA meetings without the 12 steps piece.
What’s the point of accepting a higher power? Is it so that we can just put the blame on them? Or accept our place in this grand equation? I think we can already do the latter without a god.
I’d love to read more if you do end up making a separate post!
I quit drinking and thankfully never had to go to a meeting, but I’ve always heard that the only way through AA is with God.
I’ve been an atheist my entire life, so I don’t think that would have worked for me lol hopefully we’ll never know.
Thanks for the heads up. I’m just going to block them.

She was a great guest - and it was really cool to hear the “mastadonverse” shoutout haha.
While not 100% her final point, one of the greatest disappointments of the Internet has been watching rot and crumble into just 5 websites, each just posting screenshots/videos from the other four.

He 100% raped Ivanka.
And regarding “Trump blew Bubba,” if it wasn’t Donald, I think he served his own daughter up as a sacrifice to fellate Bill Clinton (when she was a child mind you.)

I got banned after 15 years for being pro-choice.
It’s sort of bittersweet (more sweet though, as the past few years the site has just been miserable for me), but I’m sort of proud I went out standing up for women’s rights.

Redlib
Ooo, this is the first I’ve heard of this but it looks really cool and promising! Get all the info and art without all the bots / bad users. I do miss the NIN commenters, but I’m also in their discord and there’s plenty of community to be found there!

Agreed. I remember leaving MySpace for Facebook (shit I even remember Xanga before MySpace).
At some point, it felt like the internet just got smaller, became 5 websites. And on those 5 websites, you’d find something like: a picture of a tweet posted to reddit and the tweet is about an instagram post"
Really disheartening as someone who came up with the “wild west” internet (which definitely had its issues, but it felt like human issues, not corporate issues)
My disappointment in the US continues to be consistent and expected.

Yup! I was a part of the mass Digg exodus.
I figured that would happen again with reddit, but to my disappointment the internet is a much different place than it used to be.

I remember /r/AskReddit being THE spot, and it was great to read on the go since it was just text. All the novelty accounts were awesome, RamblesOffTopic being a favorite of mine haha.

Indeed!!
As a side tangent, I used to get so mad on old forums when someone would update their avatar lol I didn’t recognize names, I recognized their picture. So if they changed they might as well be a new user until I recognized we’ve spoken before, haha.

I think they must be - though I can’t figure out which one, haha.
I can’t figure out how to do it via the website, or Voyager / Mlem on iOS.

I think there was a big shift for reddit in 2016 after they bought (and then shut down…) AlienBlue and then launch their official app. That moment it felt like when the number of users just exploded, but with that, the quality of posts (and average age of the user) dropped.
Lemmy/the fediverse reminds me of 2010-2015 reddit (which is a good thing!)
I agree with you. Religion is the seed from which all those additional horrors can grow.
