  • Spent last night going through all the political parties and their policies. Damn do they suck! Labour was the only one who had concrete policy and even then only on doctors visits and loans for new doctor practices.

Every other party from the Greens to Act or all nothing burgers and hot air sentenses usually taking the form of “this is a problem, we will fix it” no “how” or “what with”

I know its early in the election cycle but its still very lax

  • This is an interesting one for me. I have a bunch of mates in their 40s still on their restricted, it has never impacted them, cops never seem to care.

If the law isnt being inforced then its just frivilous buracracy. Now i agree that we already have a poor standerd of average driver skill in NZ so that should be elevated. But laws for the sake of laws that only get applied sporadicaly and inconsistantly just create derision with our justice system.

Perhaps creating a longer learner period, something like 2 years, that can be reduced by 3-6 month increments by taking certain courses could be a thing. Skip the restricted altogether.

Im not against what they are doing with this, to me it seems like a step in the correct direction. I do question their motives behind it. What do you know, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

  • Its almost like everyone building this shit at one point in the past 5 years called themselves a “software developer” and might have a good insight as to what that job entails. Posibly why LLMs are kinda competent at the job of development, they are being built by 1000’s of ex software developers.

Probably wont be good at law or chemistry because the people building it have a felon musk level of understanding about those jobs.

  • Wow i am massivly wrong. A simple wiki search would have set me straight. Sorry all, dont listen to me. (Below is original comment, ill wear my shame on my sleeve)

~~We test on animals. Mice specifically, so we take the amount that killed the mouse and multiply by 50 to get an estimate on the Lethal Dose for humans. So i guess depending on the human the true lethal dose is going to be some where between 50 times the Lethal Dose and 99 times the Lethal Dose.

So “LD” is the amount it took to kill a mouse and 50 times that or “LD50” is the estimated lethal dose for a human~~
