Oh they are all fat and happy now :)
I added a few things to the text, but it was just more specifics about their medical treatment, that the vaccination marked the end of the quarantine, a picture of the two dogs, and that my mom says Zezé is a gift sent by Saint Francis (also added a next button at the bottom for convenience)
I’m working on their profiles now, tons of pictures to select, resize, convert, rename… I did the profile for the old ones first, and before posting the “barbarians” I wanted to tell their story

  • Again the main point:

    • Ban users you don’t want commenting in your instance, as you don’t need to host their crap.
    • Don’t treat your own users like children and let them decide what they want to read, where they want to comment, who they want to talk to.

It’s astonishing that AUTONOMY is such a controversial concept among ANARCHISTS nowadays.
I’m not opposed dbzer0 moderating content on dbzer0 (or even what dbzer0 users post outside of dbzer0) - that’s not even what this thread is about. I’m opposed dbzer0 dictating what kind of content users have access outside dbzer0 (“oh, just create multiple accs on multiple instances” - no wonder the Fediverse only gains traction when some shit happens on big social media apps). Perhaps you like to have a daddy telling what you can or not do, but for ANARCHISTS, this that you are trying to normalize, should be laughable.

“To be governed is to be watched, inspected, spied upon, directed, law-driven, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, checked, estimated, valued, censured, commanded, by creatures who have neither the right nor the wisdom nor the virtue to do so.” (some “libertarian”, probably)

The post says: “Note 2: If you think […] or have alternative suggestions, then please leave your comments below”, and my suggestion is treating dbzer0 users as adults capable of choices (block or not feddit.org, like I already did). It’s quite sad that being treated as an adult is so outrageous in social media culture. However, I didn’t even vote in the post, I don’t really care what’s going to happen, social media drama is too tiresome.

ps: I have no idea how it’s for Lemmy, but for Mastodon if you by default don’t defederate from a huge list of instances all main instances won’t federate with you. Allowing your users to interact with whatever crap might be in other instances doesn’t mean your users practice that crap, you don’t even know what they might be doing there, you are just blocking arguments to be have, and they might not affect the parts in the discussion, but they do affect the people reading it.

    Fuck Echo Chambers.

  • btw, I already block feddit.org so the defederation makes no difference for me. I’m just always surprised by how this generation raised on Twitter is always so fast to treat everyone like children incapable of autonomy and critical thinking (“I know what’s better for you” is what I’d expect from the ml instances). The Fediverse is a cool idea, unfortunately it’s populated by a bunch of little Mussolinis, and cHaNGe InSTaNCe/HOsT YouR OwN means shit because the Fediverse is ruled by peer pressure and herd mentality. If I were to make an instance and believe the people on my instance are adults responsible for themselves, and as long as they abide by the rules of conduct of my instance so I don’t have to host crap, I don’t care which instances they interact with or who they talk to because that’s none of my business, other instances would defederate from me just because they believe I have to defederate from the instances they don’t like. Fucking childish.
