Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does asking yourself “Where would I have put that?” work for you?English
5·2 months agoLol, no. I have 2 kids, 3 cats, an absent minded professor of a husband and perimenopause fuzzy brain. Nothing is ever put in a place than makes sense. I used to live in a world where I had perfect recall of every item in my house. Now I’m lucky if I find what I’m looking for in less than a week.

WomensStuff@piefed.blahaj.zone•I hate being pregnantEnglish
7·4 months agoI hope it helps! I tried those seabands too and all they did was piss me off and trigger anxiety by having my wrists restrained. I have similar results with compression socks that Dr’s always recommend. I haven’t tried it, but I wonder if ear seeds will give similar results for acupressure, if it works for you. Just a thought. Sending stomach calming vibes your way. 🙃

WomensStuff@piefed.blahaj.zone•I hate being pregnantEnglish
14·4 months agoPregnancy sucks. It can have good parts but there are so very many bad parts that far outweigh it. And the fear, and guilt, and lack of support and validation. Guh. I’m sorry. Feel free to message me if you need to late night vent. I’m sure you’ve tried every trick. I took so much b12. The only thing that helped my nausea with my last pregnancy was acupressure. I couldn’t afford acupuncture so I got one of those $20 metal pressure tools off of Amazon and a book out of the library. It worked, amazingly. And later on for other complaints.

29·5 months agoMy 6 year old son absolutely loves the Snap Circuits kits. We’ve also started teaching him collectable card games (Pokémon, Yu Gi Oh , etc) which challenge his reading and strategy skills. Plus great quality time activity. There are tons of Stem kits out there for less than $40.

cats@lemmy.world•Advise: I broke my collarboneEnglish
252·6 months agoIf your cat is laying there and purring he might actually know exactly what he’s doing. The frequencies that cats purr at actually encourages bones to heal. He’s trying to help you. That said, cats hate citrus scents. You can also move him where you want him and give him treats there to make positive association. Training and repetition take time. Locking him out might be easier.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What in the worldEnglish
17·7 months agoThe IRS might be very interested in what your ex employer has to say. If he hasn’t been properly withholding taxes, you’ll ultimately be responsible. And obv don’t pay a dime. You might actually be looking at some windfall for whatever fines BOLI ends up charging him.
In my experience, most employers, and landlords, count on you not knowing your rights and their status as authority to get away with shit like this.

14·10 months agoEveryone’s discussing ODing on OTC pain meds but the bigger part of this story is why he’s in so much pain for so long without being able to see a Dr and receive treatment for chronic pain.
I like the steam deck startup movies. But no, points aren’t for anything, really. Been around at least…5 years.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Found money. What do?English
434·1 year agoFrom your use of the £ I’m going to assume you are not American. America has legalized theft if it’s the police doing the taking. Look up civil forfeiture. You turn over money to cops, they’ll just say they “think” it was involved in crime and pocket it.

145·1 year agoLackluster reporting. The article misses the fact that he has to step down as he’s a special government employee and so can only work for 130 days.
Strange that that’s the one law that he decided to follow.

1·1 year agoI agree with you, it should be regulated. But if you’d clicked through they give you an image of a credit card that doesn’t need the app. I used it to buy a gift card from a store I regularly use that way it doesn’t expire or accumulate BS fees.
RestlessNotions@sh.itjust.workstointerestingasfuck@lemmy.world•Review Written by UnitedHealthcare CEO Shooting Suspect about Ted Kaczynski's "Industrial Society and it's future"English
23·1 year agoI’m guessing he kept it all intentionally. He had the manifesto on him, probably expecting “accidental” suicide by cop in hopes that his message would continue and not be painted over by the media. Yeah, he could have ditched the gun, but again, perhaps he didn’t want there to be any shadow of a doubt that he is guilty. This was an intentional sacrifice in hopes of making a change.

Man, don’t get my hopes up!
