  • Unless you’re downloading a prebuilt LXC, you’d still have to do all the manual install yourself.

If you do download a prebuilt one, then you’ll need to do the updating yourself, like you would a normal application, including ensuring you keep dependencies up to date and all that.

Both have their pros and cons and I use each depending on what I’m doing (and basically all of my dockers are running in their own LXC containers, which I find to be the best of both worlds).

FWIW, I don’t download any prebuilt LXC anymore other than the base ‘Ubuntu’ or ‘Debian’ ones … the ones in ProxMox that have the prebuilt apps were a pain to update for me, especially since I had no idea how they were actually installed and most of the times they didn’t have package manager installations or curl installed and it was just way more trouble than it was worth.

ProxMox does now have a built in containerized docker implementation that will use an LXC and you can just provide it the docker package details, but, it’s still in beta and I don’t know that it’s ready to be depended on yet.

  • This is mine too!

It’s absolutely INSANE, nothing like the games and somehow it still works in a weird way for me - and somehow still manages to show more love/respect to the source material than some other adaptations I’ve seen (even while being nothing like the source material)!

For anyone that hasn’t looked into the behind the scenes of this movie, you NEED to!

The crew openly wore custom made shirts shitting on the directors, the actors were drunk most of the time, Leguizamo had his leg broken on set! … Haskins was stabbed FOUR times, electrocuted, drowned AND had his finger broken [anytime you see him holding something over his hand, it’s likely because he was hiding the cast]! Mario Mario had a lot of reasons to be so grumpy!

  • I mean, the argument back would just be “Rittenhouse knew it wasn’t a peaceful protest and planned accordingly” … both protests were left wing protests and both murders were committed by right wingers hoping they’d get an excuse to shoot someone.

Also - imo don’t try and find inconsistency in right wing talking points, they literally do not give a flying fuck about anything other than “winning” and would spit on their mother’s graves if someone told them she was a communist. Today they’ll say the sky is blue, tomorrow they’ll say it’s orange as long as it doesn’t mean agreeing with a leftist who also said it was blue.

  • Great theory to cover up bad writing, but, unfortunately, the Duffer Brothers have set the story straight!

Fair enough. Another question I had that other people have been asking is once they get to The Abyss, where are all the creatures? Where are the demogorgons, the demodogs, the bats? Are they hiding?

Matt Duffer: Mainly it’s just that Vecna was not expecting this sneak attack on his home turf. Never in a million years could he even imagine that. They’re there somewhere. We obviously discussed having a demo battle on top of the Mind Flayer battle, but it felt more right to us that why does he need the demos when the Mind Flayer is this giant thing and can attack them? He doesn’t need his little ant army to attack, he’s going to take care of this himself. It’s a giant, desolate planet. If you recall, you see Henry wandering the planet back in Season 4 and at some point in his journey, he does see a demo far in the distance, but it’s not like they’re hanging out in little huts. There’s not like a giant civilization of demos up there.

  • Right?! I love the people giving ‘help’ on how to launch the terminal in other ways, lol, but, this was the worst of them.

This isn’t OOP saying “OMG! For terminal specifically, Windows is making it so difficult for me! Please, someone, show me another way to get to the terminal! Bonus points if you can be a jerk while doing so!” It’s them saying “Windows start menu search is fucking broke as hell and here is an example”

Saying that people are ‘cringe’ for expecting the search to work isn’t helpful at all (people giving tips on other ways to get to programs though, yeah, that can be helpful to try and help others work around MS breaking basic functionality). This is functionality that has been in Windows since Windows 7 and has been in every OS with a GUI that I’ve used for a really long time … expecting it to work isn’t absurd in the least.

Can’t we all just join together in our disappointment/hatred of the Start Menu Search functionality and the enshittification of the OS in general rather than having to try and make it into a “I’m so much better than you because I do this in a power user way”? Especially when that power user way isn’t even useful for a lot of applications!

  • It’s like on my old Nvidia SHIELD, an update rolled in and all of a sudden there are ads on the homepage. Some people were ok with TV/movie ads being on a TV/movie device, but, why the hell would I want ads for content only available on services that I don’t have? If they’d at least only given me ads for the services it knew I was subscribed to, I would have at least been less pissed off since it could have been useful.

Reached out to Nvidia and they say there isn’t anything they can do, it’s built that way by Google. By no means do I just blindly accept that that was accurate, but, it’s still bullshit that with a basic update all of a sudden the nature of my device was completely changed (imo) and I’m expected to just suck it up or work around it with 3rd party launchers that weren’t as polished.

Dunno if it’s gotten better/worse in the last couple years, mine died and I elected to not replace it with another Android device.
