Technology@lemmy.world•Memory prices tipped to fall as China starts flooding the market with DRAM and NAND chipsEnglish
5·1 month agoIt depends on the use case. I use teamgroup high capacity SSD drives for short load things on my homelab but they are super slow for any kind of extended writing due to a number of factors such as cache writes. I had to warranty two of 5 that died within a few weeks but it has been fine once the duds were replaced and they were easy about honoring the warranty.
Again, fine for a homelab but I wouldn’t use them in my gaming rig where speed matters. For things like readimg of stored video and Linux isos, they work pretty good.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are your BEST tech purchases?
1·2 months agoThe tv’s with really nice screen tech that is dumb usually costs more I find. Every time I go tv shopping I just end up getting angry about it and talk myself out of it again. I like some of the Hisense stuff but Samsung panels are really the best and the price reflects that.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What habit do you possess that seems very normal to you, but would seem odd to anyone else?
171·2 months agoI can’t leave the house without a shower even if it’s just a quick 5 minute trip to the gas station. The only exception I’m willing to make for this is if someone else is in some sort of harms way from nature or whatever.
Wake up late to the thing? I just won’t be doing the thing I guess or everyone will have to wait. That said, I’m good about not being in that situation and plan myself well for the sake of others as I recognize it’s a weird thing about me, not them.

I read tech article the other day where the engineer had made several LLM calls and over engineered controlling a smart home light. Then wrote a massive corporate ridden psychoses article about it like he was delivering the word of God.
I can’t remember what company had posted it. One of the search vendors I think but it was not cool. It’s like everyone got laid off and the only people left is some execs nephew that’s “good at computers”.
