9·2 months agoAfter being burned by a dozen creators, I find it safer for my own emotional well-being to just assume all things beautiful and evocative are made by someone who is secretly a terrible person.
Saves me from the disappointment of finding out later.
I’m constantly surprised when it turns out someone famous isn’t getting up to some bad shit.

2·2 months agoOne of my professors in college demanded the class turn in a video production assignment as DVDs.
… This was in 2018
I was the only one in the class who even had a DVD burner (… Because I’d used it some years prior for PS2 games piracy and it was still in my storage box)
So the class bought a spindle of DVDs and I spent an afternoon burning everyone’s assignments to DVDs.
No idea what would have happened if they didn’t have a pet ultranerd like me. Like, did teach expect 'em to go and buy a USB DVD burner just for that?

The rest is learned pattern recognition. A download is a down arrow in a circle because you are taking the thing from the other thing. So saving is an arrow to a line because you are putting the thing in the other thing.
That’s sorta what you get with decades of janky adaptations to not break old applications while also adding stuff that will be useful to newer applications. A whole lotta jank.
I agree it could perhaps be more orderly, but hey, as long as it works…

The samesuch human could have used the samesuch 12 hours to caption by hand, the only difference is you didn’t have to pay a license to an AI provider.

My boyfriend has this trick where he pokes a hole on the top, a hole in the bottom, and then he blows and the egg just falls out.
Never managed to pull it off, I just claw at it until it’s done.
