  • Sorry I’ve never played Minecraft myself, bit my kid sometimes puts on YouTube videos of kids just being dumb in Minecraft. That’s skewed my view. The kids might enjoy Minecraft’s building elements, but they’re still a bit young to grasp open ended play and need direction. I’ll check it out.

I am very grateful that my kids still fall in my sphere of influence. I’m pleased to say that their favorite games are: Super Hexagon, Super Meat Boy, Ori and the Blind Forest, Super Mario 3D Land, etc. No mention of Roblox, Minecraft or Fortnite in this house.

there was a site where you could post 2 choice questions that people could answer and comment on, I forget the name but I used that a lot

Lemmy… I had a Lemm.ee account and that died. Had a lemmynsfw account and that died. Apparently lemmy.ml has a bad reputation. Instances defederate from each other. I just want to see memes without the drama. Don’t know where to post to get more than a handful of people to see my post. I’m rapidly losing interest in the fediverse.

Back to books, podcasts and RSS… Social media has nothing worthwhile for me.

  • When I was a kid in the 90s, there used to small fringe groups talking about global warming and everyone else rolled their eyes. Now when it’s too late, people have started caring.

Privacy, security and anonymity are at that place now. Anyone talking about how fucked up it is that even your TV and fridge is mining all the data it can, is considered to be a fringe alarmist. People are going to wait till the world is on fire before taking this seriously. There was an uproar when WhatsApp changed its terms of service a couple of years ago and that died down and nothing changed. The uproar from this (and Discord) will also die down and nothing will change. Maybe one day people will see this as relevant to their lives and take it seriously.
