But… They lost? The Hussites that “won” were a splinter movement allied with the Catholic church against the more “progressive” ones.

HistoryArt@piefed.social•Cutaway of the Nazi German ME-262, an early jet fighter
3·3 months agoNah Germany was already well on their way into losing the war a year earlier.
The germans actually pressured the reluctant Austro-Hungarians to declare war. Germany was chomping at the bit to grab more of France and keep the Baltics/Balcans away from the Entente.
They also had some “interesting” ideas about how the people living in those regions should be replaced with proper Germans that may have inspired the next generation.
Exactly. Since we invented calculators nearly a hundred years ago students have been unable to learn how to do basic addition and multiplication unassisted.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Belgian stores are playing AI-generated music because it’s cheaper
4·4 months agoI can’t believe they have shit like that in other countries. Had to deal with one where I’m from and the thing is you don’t even get anything as an artist. There’s vague assurances that they will protect your rights and “register your copyright” but in reality they just take your membership fees and fine money to pay the bigger “artists” and cultural associations (which like, fair enough I guess I just wish it wasn’t so opaque and I’m almost certain they only fund musical productions the higher ups happen to be friends with).
It’s basically a private organization benefiting from custom laws. Similar to the German radio and TV tax where they have the legal right to charge you for daring to exist in a society with public access media.
I stayed at a Hilton a couple of years ago after a cancelled flight and I was absolutely flabbergasted at what 300 dollars a night gets you these day: a bed in a barely cleaned room.

Nah, it’s the ADHD.
Sometimes decades later I suddenly realise I was being flirted on in some random party circa 2004. I used to think exactly like you!

2·7 months agoPaying less is good. I love sales, but they are still a psychological manipulation to get you to spend more money than you normally would.

72·7 months agoThis dude is 100% correct and I have no idea why people are downvoting him. Sales make people more likely to buy a product due to being limited. Limited time sales work better than lowering prices in the long term.
It’s why indie games do stuff like release their new games with time-limited 10% off discounts.
I’m pretty sure she didn’t consider those to be animals, only “bugs”
One day I’m going to frame a coloured drawing I still have from year one. The following event is also still ingrained in my mind: We had to colour in a picture with several animals, one of which was a small spotted reptile in a puddle of water. Clearly a salamander.
The teacher crossed it out in red pen and screamed that I am old enough to know lizards are green and there is no such thing as a black and yellow animal on this earth.

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Canadian Mayor Andy Fillmore says he will introduce a motion next Tuesday to stop all new bike lanes 🤦🤦🤦English
1·9 months agoFair enough! It’s just the memo itself reads more like an inocuous “hey are we really doing things the best way possible?” I’ve seen my fair share of bycicle lanes done wrong (my home town has roughly 500 meters of it going from a busy car heavy roundabout in the middle of nowhere to some other place also in the middle of nowhere).

1·10 months agoNo, you can’t. Simple as that. Same with helping someone carry some boxes because you’re just a cool dude.
I don’t make the rules, I only know them 😅

That’s interesting! I really do need to read up more on the subject as I was under the impression it had been a failed movement.
