It’s good to blend asphalt with this nasty plastic. Roads are known to not be exposed to any sort of high mechanical loads, so no risk of constantly adding micro plastic to the environment.

That’s the main reason, Linux is still not as widespread as Windows - marketing. If you’d ship all of the sold PCs with a pre-installed Linux, nobody would give a shit.
And why would they? The vast majority of ALL computer users just use functions (email, office, browsing) instead of programs. Oh, I know, I know. If you ask, you always hear Word, Excel, Outlook. But to me that are just synonyms for the tedious everyday tasks most users perform. And if you’d stop training people to repeat tasks and klick buttons and instead train them to understand what they’re actually doing … sigh
Hmm, not sure about that. Waiting for my TV to boot or update or connecting to Wi-Fi or my m music streaming app to ‘think’ for two minutes until it works at all is tedious. Don’t get me wrong - it’s still net positive. But I would instantly choose any option that offers less features if it would give me back this cosy feeling, that I’m the customer and not the product. Don’t want to go into details here but it feels at certain edges that some of these integrated functionalities have simply not been tested for an actual user, but simply to offer … more.
Writing that, it also could just be age bias. :-p

Very precise answer. Thanks, I’ve learned something.

Routing (e.g. for cables or traces on a pcb). I’ve heard both over the years: as in cangaroo or the german Frau. But the latter might be a german mis pronounciation.
Which brings up two new questions. Is it German or german and mispronounciation or mis pronounciation or mis-pronounciation?

Oh, one really pronounces the ‘shuh’ part? I was told it’s just the first two syllables.

Foreigners are to blame for everything and kicking them out of your country is key to solving everything.
Silicone rubber spatula, for sure. In Germany it’s sometimes called a ‘Geizhals’, because it perfectly scrapes off every rest of doug or sauce or dressing or whatever you’ve put together. Oh - and my ceramic knife sharpener. Can’t decide which to put at the top.

I wonder when the big software players running their stuff on Win are going to complain. For me, I’m tied to Autodesk. If they would make their mind up and start a Linux version or support Proton (I don’t see, why the advancement in the gaming world couldn’t in principle be applied to productivity software) I would be away from MS at work instantly.

Nice nick!

I recently looked into (affordable) Linux-CAD programs and stumbled upon VariCAD, which, checking their presentation, appeared pretty complete. Saying that I would just make a decision after throwing a serious project, multiple parts, workgroups, parameters and technical drawing generation, on it. Maybe someone can comment on it?

The track during the balcony scene from the first Blade Runner point-n-click adventure game. Came out in 1997. It’s Vangelis’ iconic Blade Runner Blues

Aliens. The second part was my first of the series.

Aliens. Must have been 12 or so. A boring sunday and my friend’s mom drove us to the cinema. (In Germany the movie was rated 16) but we didn’t bounce off at the desk. I was not exactly horrified, but so … thrilled. After that I dived a bit too deep into the H.R.Giger universe, I guess.

I’ve read the book first and that ruined a good portion of the following week. The basement scene still haunts me today. Honestly I don’t dare to touch the movie now …
Great, like it! It follows one of my own design rules at home - if you can’t hide it, promote it!
