  • despite being now the very opposite of picky eater I think people find my eating habits quite odd, making any meal together with other people difficult. but you know what, I’m a total weirdo for so many other reasons, so it’s fine :)

I can’t imagine now my life without Tolkien. I mean right now I’m embroidering a smial door in my studio room, decoratee with sting, thranduil’s sword and orcrist and 12 pictures of the middle earth ahah, arda really is my happy place

I’m glad at least they made a nice erlond, he deserves so much respect, sometimes I wonder if he regretted his elfish life. to be fair the eru’s gift is soothing after all those losses.

I don’t think sam ever told her because he’s too modest and really never realised how greatly amazing he is. probably he just told her “the memory of your smile kept me company during the trip” but never gave the importance it had to him (and for the whole free world!)

I imagine now op like the meme “you know what? it’s my fault for having a phone” ahaha but can’t lose the chance to chat about tolkien

  • absolutely understandable, i was an incredible picky eater as a child, now I’m very much the opposite

I first encountered Tolkien when I was 19 or 20, I was visiting a friend and on the table he had this thick af book. as I’ve always been an avid reader I was thrilled to see a book that could last me at least one week, I’ve asked what it was about. “wizards, elves and wars” i never put down faster anything in my life 😂 there’s a time for everything I guess, because, oh gosh! i was so wrong!!

yes, Fëanor is so far from the elf-perfection, definitely not the wisest and fairest of all beings. but also his father seems like the only elf who had 2 spouses, probably they were a bit over the top

we had, a few years ago, a massive shitstorm amongst the fandom because of the new translation. it’s proper crap honestly, I don’t want to talk shit on someone who’s way more talent than me (otherwise I’d be the new translator!) but…no, it’s awful. the last name of the translator could be translated as exertion, we all joke saying Exertion made reading Tolkien an exertion.

I don’t think i have a favourite, but I truly love elrond, he lost basically everyone, his life is so fricking tragic and yet he keeps going, such a strong soul. I also like Rosie (in fact I have a pot called rosie, despite her little presence) because, not knowing, she gave so much strength to Sam, only existing.

gosh i wrote so much, apologise! I bet op is hating us, receiving all these notifications for stuff absolutely unrelated to her post ahah 🙈 #SorryNotSorry

  • you know what, I can see supermarket baked beans being quite gross, I don’t like them either, but, during a visit of my british friends, I tried the suma ones (the simple, organic ones, not with the sausages, those have the vile sauce) and it was love at first spoon, now I need them in my Saturday fry ups. if you don’t like my homemade baked beans I’m afraid, as you said, we can’t be friends /s

reading Tolkien in its original language as a native speaker must me a next level experience, his incredible work on philology can’t be fully appreciated by non native. i read it both original and in my language but I’m sure I’ve missed so many nuances

    is Fëanor your favourite?

  • I’m sure I could enjoy it if I’d be able to see it as a totally different world and not like the tolkien universe but… no, I’m really rigid with my thinking and tolkien is my special interest, I’m unable to do so :(

ahaha ok you hate marmite, I get it. I’m, obviously, a marmite lover. before brexit i used to make marmite gravy for Sunday roasts, now I have to ration my marmite consume, so it’s only for toasts in the fry ups

yes, I also make baked beans at home (with my big pot Arwen), I make most of my food from scratch. considering I’m also quite short I am an hobbit indeed

  • thankfully I’ve been lucky enough to be able to build a hobbit life, except for a very normal house and not a lovely smial, I spend my days gardening, cooking, crafting something cosy…I mean I can look like a trad wife, but my love for the pipe-weed makes me absolutely an hobbit 😂

yes I love to cook and always had a soft spot for traditional british food, so it was logical to me to create that cookbook. when my former best friend used to visit me she always brought a suitcase full of crumpets and hovis bread (and anything marmite) now I have to make crumpets and English muffins at home

yeah, that meme burns, poor lad! the whole series sounds odd to me at this point, I know they bought just a tiny part and everything else is copyrighted but…I don’t know, I believe if you have to do it, make it good, if you have to make a shitty work, just don’t do it

  • gorgeous! the English countryside is indeed a piece of heaven. except for the hellish temperature I also live in a very lovely place and some views really make me feel like living in the shire, and how fun to foraging and hunt for mushrooms!

oh I envy you so much for your recent marathon, mine is set for Easter, I really need to escape from this reality, but alas, that is not for me to decide what happens in my time. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.

the cookbook creation has been a very fun time (and also a bit of frustration time as well), 28 meals per season ( 4 days each seasons, 7 meals per day) for a total of 112 recipes. thankfully old toby helps to eat so much 😂

poor celeborn, he already has so little space on screen in general, now you’re telling me amazon totally forgot about teleporno (understandable they didn’t mention celebrian as they portrayed galadriel super young)

  • what the fuckity fuck? I hope I didn’t understand because of my poor English, and not that galadriel emotionally cheated on celeborn?🫠 yeah you are giving me more reasons to avoid that tv series

epic is the right word to describe the whole universe, such an incredible genius he was!

perhaps dreaming about it is the only way we won’t be disappointed tho. and I’m super keen on peter Jackson’ work, I even wrote a themed cookbook to make my marathons more immersive (so it’s not coming from a “everyone sucks” position), but I have big trust issue now. that world brings me joy and comfort, i hate to see it downtrodden for easy money (which is also against the professor’s beliefs)

  • I can totally see them inventing some shitty romance just for the sake of it! seeing the creation would be divine (literally and metaphorically) but I think it would be harder than picturing ungoliath.

also I have big love for yavanna and nienna, probably because I feel closer to them

if they really need a tragic hero, Tolkien already wrote the children of hurin, no need to twist melkor, but I’m 100% sure they would do exactly what you fear for

but at the end of the day what I’d love more would be a proper silmarillion, not that sort of Frankenstein Tolkien son made. no intent to shit on it, I’m more than grateful to him for his inestimable work, yet he admitted he cut a lot, especially female characters, I would have loved a the lord of the rings-long silmarillion

  • the same disappointment i had for the hunt for gollum… i mean ok, everything Tolkien is great and the more, the better, yet…there are soooo many things to show! elrond and elros childhood covers a lot of interesting time as well

but rings of power gave me a bit of anxiety because now I don’t trust anyone honouring the professor’s world, it’s just a grab money and it saddens me (the hunt for gollum! I’m talking to you! please don’t be rubbish please!!)

  • I totally agree with you! probably I see it through a “modern” point of view and I don’t believe in blind submission and in punishment but more on education and forgiveness. I see elves from the first age more as children and the valar like care giver, they really failed him and didn’t protect from their peer morgoth (who has no room for redemption, education and forgiveness)

we will never know how melkor would have reacted (for sure not nicely) yet I’d rather leave melkor to act destructive instead of abandoning in despair and pain a child of Eru

  • probably I’m too autistic to separate it. I’m basically a walking meme of lemongrab yelling “UNACCEPTABLE” 😆

about Fëanor both are true for me. he did overreact and the first kinslaying was a proper shit move (there is where I would draw the line) but I feel like everyone else drove him at that point where no one should be driven. I can clearly see myself as Fëanor yelling UNACCEPTABLE during the exile, the murder of my father and the theft of the silmarils.

his pride and vanity were a problem since the beginning tho, yet I really feel like the valar could have handled everything soooo much better, I blame them above all

  • I was beyond thrilled at the beginning but they shit on the whole lore (for example Tolkien is big no no about getting close to evil to reach good) and did too dirt on galadriel.

Despite very few female characters I see a lot of feminism in Tolkien’s world. all the women are powerful in their own special way, no need to be a mockery of a stereotyped man ( see the power empire cover '22 with a open legged galadriel, full armour, way too big weapon and baddie face…just…no)

I don’t have a deeper opinion because these above mentioned things were enough for me to say no.\

    what about you?
