Boy is this a take and a half. So instead of asking a price they think is fair, they should ask more, and arbitrarily reduce that on occasion to manipulate you into buying the product through FOMO, and that’s consumer friendly?

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Screen mirroring with same resolution but different refresh ratesEnglish
3·1 month agoI have a very similar setup, but rather than mirroring I have KDE shortcuts that invoke 2 very basic scripts that swap between desktop and livingroom display layouts using kscreen-doctor. It also swaps audio output between HDMI and my audio interface.
Works very well, much better than a similar setup I had on Windows with DisplayFusion. The only thing I have to do is hit the shortcut when sitting down at the desk or the sofa, everything else just works.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•PC Gamer: "I'm brave enough to say it: Linux is good now, and if you want to feel like you actually own your PC, make 2026 the year of Linux on (your) desktop"English
3·1 month agoDoesn’t this require you to also be on plasma 6.4?
Using proton wayland also breaks steam input, which can be deal breaker.

7·1 month agoGetting it to actually work with games is still a crapshoot, though.
Plasma 6.5 has broken tonemapping both with gamescope and proton wayland (which breaks a bunch of other things to boot). The fix was merged just a couple of weeks ago.
…literally all of those are just things you do if you’re participating in society. And I say this with a literal top 1% salary. I’m sorry, but if that reflects the values of your husband, he kinda sucks.
Now with the moral grandstanding out of the way, to answer your question: once I’ve worn holes holes through a pair of jeans, I cut them up for the fabric which I use to patch/fix other pairs of jeans. I then use those patched clothes for things like yard and renovation work.
Based on the ears I’m guessing Umamusume
It’s a real question. This is from the Finnish edition of who wants to be a millionaire.

81·7 months agoIt makes sense once you consider that these numbers are the manufacturers self reporting. That means they aren’t comparable, so drawing conclusions like ”manufacturer X has better batteries than manufacturer Y” from these numbers is silly.

”If you have Finnish ancestry or a close connection with Finland, you may be granted a residence permit in Finland on this basis. This means that you are considered a returnee (paluumuuttaja). Receiving a residence permit depends on the directness and closeness of your Finnish ancestry. No other reason, such as work or study, is required in order to receive the permit.”
Not an expert but I would imagine grandparents is considered pretty close and direct.

World News@lemmy.world•Diplomacy dies on live TV as Trump and Vance gang up to bully Ukraine leaderEnglish
167·1 year agoThey really have you all wrapped around their fingers, don’t they? Your democracy is literally on fire around you and the best both ”sides” can do is bicker whose fault it is.

World News@lemmy.world•Diplomacy dies on live TV as Trump and Vance gang up to bully Ukraine leaderEnglish
461·1 year agoNot addressing the rest of the comment, but ”world leaders should discuss everything behind closed doors” is a dangerously shortsighted take. You do realize their job is to represent you, right? How do you think you can verify they are doing that if you are not allowed to see and hear what’s being said?

World News@lemmy.world•Scientists say sprinkling diamond dust into the sky could offset almost all of climate change so far — but it'll cost $175 trillion [USD]English
6·1 year agoFirstly, it’s 5 million tonnes per year. For 65 years. Secondly, the cost is for a 65 year SAI program, including developing the tech and running the missions. Thirdly, this is all explained in TFA or the links therein.
Virtually everyone fails to grasp exactly how large of a number a billion is. It’s so, so much bigger than the ”very big number” people think of when they hear the word.

And Finally...@feddit.uk•People spot 'time-travelling child' holding modern item in eerie photo from 1941
16·1 year agoThis is an ”article” about a Reddit post from 4 years ago posted on r/timetravelercaught where the comments point out the same thing. The crazy thing is that someone wrote an article about it.

”Akshually” Hitler wasn’t elected, he was appointed by the president who was pressured by industry magnates, the tech billionaire parallel of that time. That isn’t to say he didn’t have support, he barely lost the election, but he wasn’t actually elected to lead the nation.
The US is one Reichstags fire away from going down the same road.
