  • Not correct. And misleading. I know not just bikes well. Infrastructure is way more than one bike lane. It is also about how traffic crosses a bike lane. The crossing is slowed down by speedbumps (?) or the bike path is elevated by a curb, etc. and a wide area of visibility is provided, so they are visible before crossing. And most importantly, the car drivers are taught about it. What i mean is, that like in this foto, might work well in the Netherlands, but not so much in other countries.

  • When Hitler was choosing his cabinet, he made Göhring Minister of the interior, which was head of the police. Then they put their SS inside of the Reichstag, when they cast the vote if Hitler should have absolute power (for a limited time, to solve a fake issue). The police, now under Göhring, didn’t stop them. The SS stood everywhere, shouting Nazi paroles and threatening the Reichstag-members to apply violence if the vote does not come out their way. Back then in the Reichstag, voting wasn’t anonymous. The deed was done. Some brave leftists still openly said they cannot vote yes, many were later captured and killed. Hitler obviously just cancelled the limited time part and kept the absolute power.

Many Germans later regretted, not having fought more, when they saw it all coming.

Guys, everything was alarming so far. Announcing to have ICE at the polls is even more alarming. You cannot have the Shitler get that far, where it is too late. You must act now!

Good luck over there, regards from Germany.

just a reminder that survivorship bias is a huge thing. There have been shitty products from back then too. Many. We just don’t see them now, because only the few good products have survived. The same happens today.

Its not all planned obsolescence and not all obsolescence is bad. Imagine having a 40 year old fridge that doesn’t cool shit and burn 3 times the energy.

2 tips for good quality products now: end capitalism and spend money on the right products (not just convenience) and the right people to repair them.

  • to keep everyone busy all the time doesn’t work

I agree but that has nothing to do with scrum. It does not say how busy everyone has to be. Things like these are left for the team to decide. If you felt like you had to be more busy, then someone among you probably pushed it.

In fact i prefer a bit of slack time so people can react to incidents better. Imagine a 100% busy highway. Not nice. And then you need to spontaneously deliver something from A to B, using that highway -> there will be a traffic jam and everything works terribly. Have a bit of slack here and there so the spontaneous delivery does not mess up the flow -> much more effective and everyone is happier too.

  • thanks for your words.

I always wonder what the point is of time-boxing in the first place

When all work is done inside of sprints (including merging, testing, delivery, troubleshooting) etc., as it originally is meant, this becomes a really convenient thing. Sales people, the customers or the manager, know at 1pm every other Friday they can come to the review, check out a new iteration, with contiguous items, without interrupting anyone or having to make changes in their full calendar to get in touch. In kanban, i wouldn’t be so sure when a good moment is to review with others, in advance.

I like kanban too, by the way.
