I’ve been to the Komodo Dragon island! Saw that photo and was like hey I’ve seen them! I didn’t travel to Indonesia to see them but we were honeymooning and since we were that close decided to do an excursion. They are so cool and nuts that we could just like be as close to them as we were. Like our guide just had this long stick with a v at the end and I’m just thinking if they really wanted to fuck us up that stick isn’t doing shit. But the dragons we saw were mostly chilling. We did hear a woman got bit the day before and had to be helicoptered out of there…komodos can take down a water buffalo. They’ll just bite their prey and poison them and then just patiently follow them forever until their prey keel over and die. Then meat’s back on the menu! Man Komodos are so cool. Anyway, I highly recommend seeing them but also I didn’t get bit, might be a different story if I was that other lady.

There’s a hurdle?!?

Kids are hilarious and they will laugh at all sorts of nonsense. The kind of laughter we rarely let ourselves experience as adults, just uncontrollable, belly hurts, don’t even know why you’re laughing so hard. I like when my kid gets kind of delirious at bed time cause he’s so tired. He forgot how to say “idea” the other day and just pronounced it in weird ways for 5 minutes and cracked himself up the whole time. They remind you what it was like being a kid and how hopeful and exciting it is. They are brutally honest. It’s reminded me of a lot of the foundational things that make life worth living that we often slowly shed as life gets full of responsibilities and whatnot. But the great thing is, you can choose to be silly whenever you want. Even at my big age. I like the daily reminder. Oh and also it’s a pain in the ass to raise them lol, but ya know, worth it.

I just listened to this episode today. I hardly understand the Fediverse myself but I made it to Lemmy. Am I supposed to be able to use my Lemmy acct for things like the Forkiverse? Is it just tied to Mastodon? I don’t have Mastodon. I guess same question can I access Mastodon through my Lemmy acct?

Yep. While it rests it generally cooks a bit more. I like a medium rare so the middle will be about medium rare, ends will be more cooked.

Seasoned it with salt and pepper pretty early in the day and smothered it with garlic and rosemary. Stuck it in the oven at 450f for about 30 min and then lowered temp to 325 for about 60-90 min until internal temp is like 120f. Take it out, tent and let it rest for 20-30 min. Gotta say, good result!

Some of the humor is quite adult but not explicit. I’d expect a lot of it to go over a kid’s head tbh and they’d probably laugh at the silliness. But you, the adult, know what you’re truly laughing at. And if you’re okay with that then the choice is yours.

I listened to an episode last night and it tickles the same absurd funny bone, loved it! I feel like there’s a touch of the absurd or whimsy in the British humor that I respond to, even though not being British I often don’t understand some references. Case in point, I love the podcast Three Bean Salad.
