Volatile headline, but no doubt some Albertan’s would welcome this?

1·2 years ago@halm I’ll give it another shot. :-) I really want to support the Debian Blend FreedomBox but it may not be my best option. :(

0·2 years ago@halm I tried Yunohost, but have to admit it confused me right at the install stage. I’m getting older and it doesn’t take much. FreedomBox had issues when I installed Wordpress. Something to do with permissions, which I don’t want to change from the default Debian settings. The barrier of entry is still too high for self-hosting for most of us.

1·2 years ago@halm I use FreedomBox or want to, but it doesn’t seem to support that much in terms of software, as I remember it once did. Perhaps I’m remembering wrong. I was hoping it would support more Fediverse server software, like some of the lighter fedi server software.

DeGoogle Yourself@lemmy.ml•motivation to deGoogle: Creditors can lock your Android remotely if you are delinquent.
01·2 years ago@coffeeClean Not sure. I wonder if these other roms support the crypto in the Google Pixel chip or support the camera well. Somehow I doubt it. 15 years ago I was into playing with custom roms, but they usually didn’t support the hardware completely, especially the camera. I mean it would work, but the quality wasn’t good as the native rom.

I don’t know but that article probably only applies to 'murica, if it’s even accurate. I’m doubtful. Doesn’t apply to Canada, that’s illegal practice hete I’m sure.

Won’t disabling that not allow me to find my device and to disable the phone remotely if stolen?
