That first paragraph oozes irony.
Britain has been “colonised” by immigrants, who are draining resources from the state, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, one of the country’s richest and most influential men, has told Sky News.

For me it’s all NFS. I have storage mounted on proxmox for VMs, ISOs, backups, … I use full VMs instead of LXC, so I have direct mounts of the shares inside the VMs if they need it.
Haha, came here to say the same. Especially that western bend trips me up a lot. The huge countries right above do help with that.
Same here, got a TrueNAS running for storage with no services, and a Proxmox box next to it that uses the NAS for storage. Solid setup.
What made you less confident in TrueNAS? I’ve been running it for a few years now, not 1 hiccup in all that time. Granted, I never ran any other services on that box.

With humans barely reacting to climate change, it will be quite a comedy when the sun starts expanding.
This is fine

How do you determine he’d make a great president? What great things has he achieved as president of France?

wow hot new take /s

To me that’s like someone telling me they read books, they like gardening, and want to keep the white race pure. Would you like them?
“What’s wrong? They read books! They even put KOreader on their Kobo!”

My thoughts exactly. They had a choice, make software either for a broad uninterested audience, or for a small but passionate crowd. They made their choice; I am not their target audience.

80% wfh, 1 day at the office. I’d prefer 100% wfh, I just cannot deal with these open plan offices and sales people not taking their calls into a booth, or having the room pling-plong from whatsapp notifications. Drives me up the wall, even with my NC headphones on.

came here to say Beszel too, love it!

haha actually I meant to say: the guillotine looks too clean, I’d rather see much-used, bloodied guillotines :)

Some days I have such thoughts as well, in the end I put that down to skipping over the revolutionary part: If the transition goes cleanly, sure, no need. We can adorn the former rich with gold chains a la More’s Utopia. But in revolutionary times, the reactionary armies will still be in full force. In such times, the logistics behind the guillotine are much simpler than running a prison system for capitalists and their crony politicians.

Spot on.
So then should we all be building and running AI slop agents on the big platforms? A collective organizing this properly might be useful.

An email campaign urging us to send our home address to bureaucrats implementing authoritarian measures.
At first glance, it seems iffy at best. After a quick look across the ocean, yep, it’s an awful idea.

I learned today PieFed should be much leaner, 1-2 GiBs only for some multi-user instances. Such a big difference blew my mind, I might have to make the switch. Feel free to try it out (and let me know how it went :D )
