Maaan, I read The Cuckoo’s Egg by Cliff Stoll recently and was more than a little jealous of what y’all got to experience. Sounds like it was a blast : )

This definitely seems more cute than mean, at least to me. My partner and I both mash on the keyboard to indicate excitement

Oh- Lol, I thought you were joking, I work at a uni where AD is mostly mess of groups for permissions & license entitlements; the ERP carries the demo/bio info and not much makes it to AD. I am SO glad my corner of the org doesn’t mess with roaming profiles (outside our VDI at least, but we are hoping to be able to kill that eventually).
Even more “fun”, the statewide system administration wants to kill off its AD forest in favor of “cloud native” Intune setups, but they can only marshal one FTE and a couple student workers to manage that for 5 campuses, 3 institutes, and like 90 county extension offices. They’ve been at it for 2 years now I think, and departmental IT still can’t even create device groups, add devices to them, or tie configuration profiles to them (poor guy hasn’t even been able to come up with governance or processes to enable that). Woohoo!

Well, see, you used to be able to use Powershell to call the ADWS Set-UserGender cmdlet, but that’s been deprecated in favor of the Graph API. The Graph endpoints aren’t actually ready yet, but I heard at a conference that the product manager thinks they might hit prerelease in Q2 or Q3…

Uncharles, no!

This sounds just like the concerns Dr. Graham Webb raises about the NHS.
Hmmm, I need to play Timberborn again…
I get this reference! (NROL-39)

Sheesh, your self talk sounds just like mine, sorry for that and the upbringing that molded it : (. Check out ThePlantSlant on tiktok/YT, Liam has a lot of shorts about improving your relationship with food and that might be a good avenue to explore. If you are in the US and your family is in a position to be able to arrange liposuction treatment, the involvement & conversations with medical professionals would probably help more than anything. I suspect that would be less true outside the US and western Europe though.

Man, I remember that storm I think, we were stuck at home for a week plus (I was 7 or so). Waaaay out in the sticks in Humphreys County. I remember my mom & sister breaking icicles off the trees for water once the well pump froze up.

My builds don’t look nearly as nice as Jaken’s, but I’ve probably clocked 1000+ hours in it since the pre-Conveyor Lift days, and it is a lovely game

Makeup does not come off easily, but it’s not particularly water resistant either, so it tends to turn into a mess when it gets wet.

We done made the good cookie that everybody like, and now we get to go home!

Yeeeah, I have an autoimmune disease (in the rheumatoid arthritis family, currently diagnosed as psoriasis) where steroids are the first-line treatment, and medical professionals don’t even recommend using topical steroids every day (which have localized effects like an inhaler), let alone oral steroids affecting your entire system.
I get the frustration, I freaking hate applying topical meds and would gladly take a pill once or twice a day instead, but the side effects would be way worse than my current symptoms if I did : (
We’ve had Sad Linus, but what about Meth Linus?

The factory must grow…
“Where’s my goddamn electric flying car Bruce??”

They’re still coming after you, and there’s nothing you can do…
Sheesh, I remember watching Martin Sargent interview Gene Ray on TechTV, he spoke exactly the same way he writes.
“You are educated stupid!” Gah, Unscrewed was such a great off-the-wall show.
