I had been dual booting bazzite for about a year, up until last weekend when it borked and I wound up just reinstalling. I just deleted everything and went pure linux. Still bazzite, still a little scared of the terminal, but windows is completely gone from my computer.

I’ve been of the opinion that if we can’t tell the difference between an AI that mimics consciousness and an AI that is conscious, then we should treat them both as if they were. I don’t believe that we will create a conscious AI, (not that I’d be willing to die on this hill) but even if we create is something that mimics it, we should not deny it the rights of a conscious being.

I think it’s important that we start the conversation now, while AI is still largely unconvincing, well before we cross any threshold towards consciousness or convincing mimicry.

both are chambered in 5.56, which is a very common round, so they’re cheap and easy to source, and plenty of power without having much in the way of recoil. It will penetrate most soft body armors, but level 4 kevlar, ceramic, or steel plate armors will stop it. The rounds are also boat tail, which according to some people makes it unstable once it hits a soft target meaning it won’t over penetrate, I can’t say if that’s true or not, but there’s plenty of high speed videos of 5.56 hitting ballistics gel that does show this.

A rifle in chambered in .308 would also be also be a good choice for a lot of scenarios for the same reasons as above, but most .308 rifles will be significantly heavier than 5.56 due to the size of the round, requiring everything to be larger. The larger overall size also means more powder which means more power, which means less things will stop it, but it will kick significantly harder.

Don’t count out a 12ga though, shotguns very versatile weapons with a huge variety of ammo types from birdshot to dragons breath to a slug for every situation, from less lethal to penetrators. You can even take a round of two of birdshot and some crayons and make something that can put a hole in a whole of things that birdshot shouldn’t be able to.

A lot of people don’t understand where the Oz measurement comes from. 1 Oz of water is the smallest amount of water necessary to melt one witch. It used to be that it was also a measurement of witches in a given area, 4 witches of varying goodness was considered one Oz.

Rifles and shotguns. Better penetration and stopping power. Most rifle rounds can penetrate common body armors, and a 12ga shotgun with slugs can make someone wearing kevlar wish they hadn’t been. The minor amount of maneuverability you lose from carrying a ‘long gun’ is more than made for by their power and efficiency.

Got stuck at PHL for 18 hours, first plane was broken, when we finally were deplaned the crew had been on duty too long for the second flight, we waited for the second crew, and were about to take and the second plane was broken. They flew in a new plane for us and by the time it got there, the second crew had to leave, so we had to wait for a third crew. I wound up sleeping on some benches in a closed restaurant next to some guy who had a connecting flight out of houston to beaumont.

I had a guy play a combo of the sentient hat and farmer. A lich screwed up, was left as just a head, and his phylactery was the farmer. As the farmer got stronger the lich got weaker but more connected to the farmer, until the lich was very nearly fully in control of the farmer (fighter/rogue by that point) before the party found a way to remove the lich.

I mean, Deep Space 9 didn’t seem like a bad place to set up shop

I had a pretty decent burger at a Hooters when I was working in an area without a whole lot of other choices nearby that weren’t burger king. I’ve been tempted a time or two to hit up hooters for that burger again, but I can’t bring myself to do it.
