Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you like working from home? Yes or no, gimme some reasons.
22·9 days agoYour own toilet and good toilet paper instead of the cheapest waxy one-ply 🙏 your own control over the AC/heat instead of freezing/sweating 🙏 never having to smell someone heating up fish in the microwave 🙏
I’m 100% remote and love it
He said 30 minutes, not 30 seconds. It is a fun story if you have the time to read it though.
No, he’s actually upset because the plate minus that one piece looks like a pac man and he’s remembering that one time he missed beating the cabinet’s high score.

19·30 days agoFun fact: no one has even seen the pitch actually drop - they had a camera set up to catch the ninth drop in 2014 but it fell during a server outage. You can watch a live feed of the tenth drop!

2·1 month agoHow hard is self hosting for someone who is a completely Linux noob? I have an extra PC that I’d love to use for it, but I have no idea how to start. Searching the web seems to only return guides for people who are used to using CLI on Linux already, which I’m not used to.

USA@quokk.au•Renee Good's Murder - All Videos Synced (Not graphic, but may be disturbing for some viewers)
11·1 month agoSeeing all of these videos synced up, it looks like the ICE agent was partially in front of her vehicle when it started moving forward, and thus could easily have been frightened of being ran over. But lets put any other person besides this man in the same scenario. If I was in front of this car and was afraid that I was going to be ran over, my very first thought would be to get the fuck out of the way. I understand this scenario could put anyone into flight-or-fight mode and thus would make logical thinking difficult (even though I think people in this profession should be trained to think thoroughly in scenarios like this? But I digress) how is the first thought “fight” if you think this car is coming to run you over?
Edit: I phrase it this way not because I’m defending him - I’m imagining what the argument would be about “him having to make a split second decision” and it being “in self-defense” and refuting it by saying that most reasonable people could defend themselves in this situation by dodging out of the fucking way.

Don’t be afraid to go to a psychiatrist (the kind of doctors who deal with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental and emotional disorders) and ask them about alternatives to perscriptions. I did that when I was frustrated with trying so many different medications and combinations of medications, and I learned about TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) and so I underwent that and it was life-changing for me.
