Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What was your number one favorite website 'back in the day', that is now defunct?English
7·5 months agoNot A website, but in the early modem days there used to be these things called web rings. When you were done going through one site (usually just a few short pages or a short story kind of deal back then), you clicked the ‘next’ button and it brought you to another random, related (usually) website. My favorite web ring was the Star Wars ring. Learned a lot of expanded universe stuff, and random fan fiction. There was one site it brought me to that told me how to use the force…still trying to make my beer come to my hand :-)

Late Stage Capitalism@lemmy.world•Also, your credit score drops if you pay all your debtsEnglish
67·7 months agoMy dad paid off his mortgage and owned his vehicles outright. He had been that way for about 10 or 12 years when he tried to buy a small cabin. Even though his finances said he could buy it outright, he tried to get a small mortgage…the banks REFUSED to give him a mortgage. They said he basically didn’t have a credit history. Its all made up bull excrement that screws with peoples lives for the fun of it.

Do-It-Yourself, Repairs and Fixes@lemmy.ml•Cow head stanchionEnglish
3·9 months agoIt looks way too close to the wall. She likely does not want to put her head there, especially when someone’s watching. Would be good to get it another 2-3 feet away from the corner at a minimum. May make her more comfortable to enter it on her own and hang tight while snackig on some grain until you can lock it.
Regarding closing the gate, you can use a pulley system with a friction lock (like on a sailboat). This would allow you to stand far to the side, or even behind and securely close it, at least temporarily, until you can put a bolt/pin in. The system just needs to be strong enough to hold it to the side. Their necks are strong, but not super strong side to side (compared to up/down), doesnt need to be bullet proof. You’re mostly trying to keep them from backing out.

7·1 year agoAbsolutely loved this game! Was so bad it. I could stealth into the enemy base no issue, couldn’t kill anyone. Sometimes I’d just see how long I could stay in without being noticed.

[Dormant, move to !television@lemm.ee] Shows and TV@lemm.ee•What shows have aged horribly for you?English
14·1 year agoOver the last few years I did some stretches of a lot of 90’s and early 2000’s sitcoms.
In regards to the ones I now cant stand: Home Improvement, Everybody Loves Raymond and King of Queens tops my list. I adored those shows growing up, now I wouldnt watch bored flicking through the channels.
Was very surprised how much I ended up loving some I hated growing up. Seinfield, 3rd Rock from the Sun, and Frasier, just to name a few.

7·2 years agoI second the safety razors. Except I’ve been running through the same box since 2016 and I’m barely half through. Takes a bit to learn, but when I want a real smooth shave nothing beats it (except maybe an actual blade razor).

151·2 years agoLike everyone else said, he understands there’s a mean stabby person, and that you love him. As far as science can tell, they don’t understand that what’s being done to them is for their own good. It’s why veterinary chemotherapy tries not to go so hard to induce the bad side effects nearly as much as in humans. Humans understand why they feel so bad and that it’s somewhat temporary. Since animals don’t (as far as our understanding), we try not to push them into the puking, losing hair, feeling like udder crap zone. If that happens they usually dial back the dosage so the side effects are better controlled.

I was obsessed with Faces a wee bit back in the day 😁
