I get the security aspect of it, but in my case I can’t see a reason to go through the hassle. My smart switches talk to home assistant running on my server. I want new devices to be able to access the plex server without manual config. And my server is arguably the most sensitive machine on my network, so if I can’t protect that, I don’t think it’s worth protecting anything.
So the exploit redirected update traffic. Does that mean anyone who ran updates in that time period could have downloaded a compromised version and their machine would be infected?

Yeah the hardest move on the entire thing was the first overhang with the security camera, and that was V3\5.10. The entire event was well below any kind of test for a pro climber. The solo part attracts a lot of attention.
The media was trying to make it sound death defying and extreme the entire time, but any time they’d ask a climber about it, “oh he’s chilling.”
Watching it as a group of climbers was fun because we could shit talk the entire time.
My favorite was when he said the quiet part out loud. “V2 in my gym.”

Adjusting the depth of cut is kind of a constant thing. I adjust multiple times per board depending on how much I want to take off. It takes some practice to figure out how to deal with slop. If there’s no depth wheel, it’s even more tricky with tapping
Meaning it rips material out? Or the depth of cut is just too deep?

The most visible piece isn’t technically joinery, but cutouts for my vise grip. Though the boards on the side are legs and stretchers for the workbench, all half laps. Just started that glue up last night

Not a bad idea. The hardest part I think would be getting the insulation to the right thickness to fit. Not sure how well it cuts.
Most art probably isn’t very thick either, and 2" thick is a sweet spot because it works better at low frequencies, but isn’t excessively large

I’ve done a few with my own photos printed on them, they look like canvas art. Well, they basically are, but also filled with sound deadening insulation.
I will probably make some myself at custom sizes, it’s basically a frame filled with insulation from the big box store, wrapped in fabric.
The impact they have is reducing room reverb, which helps a lot for conversation when there are a lot of people in the room.
Sound panels. They’re insanely effective. I put up a few at home, and now I complain about every place that doesn’t have them.
That’s a fair point. I think home assistant initiates the connection, but I’m not sure how status updates work from the smart switch to home assistant. Could be home assistant polling, web sockets, or the switch broadcasting.
