The car is becoming only for the wealthy few again. My car is a '06 honda civic EX. I can maintain it in my driveway with rudimentary tools, and repair it with only a couple more. It cost £1300 off the lot this May.
19years from now is there going to be cheap 2nd hand electric cars from this generation that are cheap to maintain? I’m happy to limp cars/bikes along myself and give then the slow tortured death they deserve. I don’t think so.
On the one hand: yay for the environment, driving is a hobby of mine (mostly motorcycles) and I will mourn its passing. But, I acknowledge the damage the making and running of the machines does.
On the other, it’s just another blow to the personal freedoms of the working class. Certainly while public transport isn’t upto snuff.
Well it doesn’t make companies much money if you keep an old car running forever, does it?
At least the battery packs in the new disposable cars are pretty recyclable.
These videos were what convinced me that I could work on and replace parts from my Bolt EUV with relative ease and maybe an extra set of hands to handle heavier parts.
The choices are Hyundai, Stellantis, or GM? No wonder they’re unsold
What’s wrong with Hyundai? e.g. Ioniq series?
The deals on the BMW i4 are only on the RWD version. Completely impractical here in Canada at least, not sure why they even sell a RWD version here. We don’t sell a RWD version of any of our other vehicles other than the M2/M3/M4 with a manual transmission, and you won’t be driving one of those in the winter.
