Called the cops and they came and took it. I’m glad, because I really didn’t want to put it in my truck.

I took my kid out magnet fishing and lost the magnet day 1. Got it hooked in some broken concrete I think.

Yeah that’s why I’m hesitant to get another. Our river is lined with old broken up concrete, I wish I had a boat.

I was trying to think of a cone or something else to make it al little less likely to snag rather than grab magnetically. But im not sure yet.

Ooh that would help, as would have some waders, but that’s not the kind of environment where you want to get into the water. Our river also has 3 inflatable dams in about 4 miles, which I’m not really willing to test the danger of in the same way I’m not willing to throw snowballs at polar bears. I just think I may not live in a place where this is very feasible.

Where the fuck do you live! /s

This was taken out of the Rock River in Wisconsin. I’m kinda blessed with all the water around. Probably hit up some lakes as soon as the weather warms a bit. But most bridges and other doggy places have a lot of rocks around. Good luck if you decided to make a go at it again.

I live in a place where you either find mafia shit, or nothing at all. It’s like uhhh that’s probably nothing. He’s like no, this is a thing! Nah no it isn’t. There’s no way to figure out what’s on that. Just forget about it.

I did this with my kids and after many days we concluded throwing things in rivers is a US culture. We found a few nails.

Just off the top of my head, the seine gets drained about every decade or so and you’ll find mopeds, scooters, bikes, shopping carts. No river in the world is clean, you, like me, just picked a bad spot.

The Seine us never drained. However it’s done to sections of the canals that drain into it every now and then.

It is apparently. I called to ask about rules for mag-fishing, and they said if a serial number could be found they want you to call it in. Bikes, scooters, guns etc. And don’t leave stuff lying around. Use public trash cans or take it away. But that’s about it for rules.

I feel like if you find a gun and turn it in they should have to trade you one back otherwise it’s finders keepers

Police: Sir, why are you in possession of a gun that was used in a murder 15 years ago?
Law Abiding Fisherman: I found it magnet fishing.
Police: Why didn’t you call it in to us and report it?
Law Abiding Fisherman: I live by a higher law. A natural law. And there are no takes backsies.
Police: sotto voce Oh, wow. I’m impressed by this man’s integrity and dedication to righteousness. Aloud Okay sir, that all checks out. You have a nice day.

A balloon pops. Police empties his magazine into the Law Abiding Fisherman. In his report it states the decedent was in possession of a firearm that was previously used in a crime. Police gets 6 months off with pay while the matter is investigated. At the conclusion of the inquest Police is granted early retirement with full pension. Police receives a medal

I was clearing out the wood from a lake recently as part of a local initiative (apparently the extra lignin in the water makes the lake more acidic and harmful to the diversity).

Anyway, I was in my chest-high waders stomping slowly around but kept tripping up on what felt like a rock. So I reach in and pull out: a printer.

Okay… well that’s the end of that, except now in that exact same spot by the pier, I’m tripping over something else. I go in, pull it out, feel something else, pull it out, etc etc.

After about an hour, I had pulled out: a pewter mug and dish tray, a metal vase, a shrunken football, more parts of the printer, a BMX wheel, and more I’m forgetting.

This is a lake that that ducks swim in.
