Are you sure it’s not the recent live action remake that people are shitting on? That film had some ties to the CCP, was filmed near a concentration camp, and for some reason gave Mulan superhuman abilities rather than having her become a capable soldier through sheer grit and hard work.
And they gave Mulan a sister whose character arc was learning she needed to stay in the kitchen.

Personally, I shit on it more for being racist than being transphobic, but there’s also a throwaway line in there about crossdressing that makes me uncomfortable. It’s not a bad movie overall, and I definitely benefitted from seeing a girl masking as a boy (that resonated with me FOR SOME REASON) being heroic.
